Town of Rosetown Recreation Committee The Town of Rosetown Recreation Committee is a sub-committee of Town Council, that oversees the Parks & Recreation Department staff, facilities, programs and services. Currently the Recreation Committee is made up of: Brian Gerow, Mayor; Gary Groves, Recreation Committee Chairperson; Hugh Lees, Town Councillor & Grant Martens, Town Councillor. The Recreation Committee meets on the first Monday of each month. Meeting packages are sent out to Committee members the Friday prior to the meeting. Groups or items wishing to be on the agenda must forward this in writing prior to the Friday to be the meeting package for that meeting.

Parks & Recreation Department Facilities The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the following facilities in Rosetown: Rosetown Sports Centre; Rosetown Leisure Aquatic Centre; Sports Grounds; Tennis Courts; Parks; etc. The department also shares duties with Public Works department in regards to the Cemetery; Blvd. trees; Town lots; Community Hall; Library; etc. There are some groups that the department works with as well on different areas of the Town: Communities in Bloom; Trail Committee; Riding Club; Curling Club; etc. For Facility Information & Pictures go to: Library Sports Facilities Recreation Facilities Walking Trail
Programs & Services - 2010/2011Please note that the Programs & Services listed below are EITHER held in Town of Rosetown Facilities or operated by the Town of Rosetown Parks & Recreation Department. There are a number of programs & services in Rosetown held in other facilities and operated by volunteer groups in the community. Please follow this link to go to a listing of the Community Groups in Rosetown - click here! 2010/2011 Hockey Programs in Rosetown 2010/2011 Ice Schedule in Rosetown - schedule will be posted as soon as it is available. The Minor Hockey Program in Rosetown is organized by the Rosetown Minor Athletics Association (RMAA). The RMAA handles registration, fees, coaches, officials & teams. RMAA also handles the equipment; currently the RMAA Equipment Manager is Brian Champion. The Parks & Recreation Department assists with registration; does the ice schedule and is responsible for the operation & maintenance of the facility. The RMAA holds a number of special events and fundraisers throughout the year. 2010 Power Skating Clinics - more info to follow! 2011 Minor Hockey Day in Saskatchewan - more info to follow! The Rosetown Senior Red Wings Hockey Club is a volunteer group that operates the Senior Hockey team which plays in the Sask Valley Hockey League each season. The Club runs the annual Hockey School for minor hockey athletes and does a number of fundraisers throughout the year. The RMAA handles registration, fees, coaches, umpires & teams. RMAA also handles the equipment; currently the RMAA Equipment Manager is Brian Champion. The Parks & Recreation Department assists with registration and does the scheduling of the ball diamonds for practice and play. The Department is also responsible for booking and keys for the batting cage. The Department also does the mowing of the outfields and the dragging of the infields. The team coaches are responsible to do the lining of the diamonds prior to games. League Schedules: Leagues have finished for the year. There is currently no adult softball program in Rosetown. This year (2010) a Senior Baseball team has been started which is playing exhibition games, tournaments and enter provincial playdowns. This team was started by Ryan Wickett & Kent Carlson. The Co-ed Slo-pitch league is organized by Community Volunteers who handle the rules, schedule and playoff format (if necessary). Annually a league meeting is held in April to find out the # of teams; individuals looking to join teams & to discuss rules/schedule/playoff format. The Parks & Recreation Department does the diamond scheduling. First priority on the diamonds is the minor ball program. In 2010 Phil Neill took over the organizing of the League. Slo-Pitch League Schedule, Rules & Team Contacts - League has finished for the year. 2010 Rosetown Outdoor Soccer The Rosetown Outdoor Soccer program is currently operated by the Parks & Recreation Department utilizing soccer fields at the community parks (Knights of Colombus Park & Kinsmen Park), Walter Aseltine School and Rosetown Central High School. Coaching and managing is done by community volunteers and parents. The 6 & under age group plays in Rosetown; the 8 & Under and older age groups play out of town in the Sask. Central Soccer League. Safe Boating Certification Course The Parks & Recreation Department is holding a Safe Boating Certification Course in Rosetown on June 7, 2010. The instructor will be Lance McQueen of Saskatoon. The Rivers West District was formed in 2009 through the amalgamation of the Zone 7 Sports Council; Wild Goose Recreation Association (WGRA); Battlefords Regional Recreation Association (BRRA) and the Rivers Junction Recreation Association (RJRA).
