In late 2017, Council approved the move towards a Town owned and operated transfer station in lieu of rising costs associated with environmental regulations of increasing capacity at our landfill.
In June 2018, Rosetown’s request to develop a waste transfer station at the site of the landfill was approved by the Ministry of the Environment, giving the Public Works department the go-ahead to begin construction this summer. Over the course of this summer, town staff have been moving dirt to build berms and prepare the site for waste collection bins. There is still quite a bit of work to do before the transfer station will be operational, including finishing installation of the weigh scale, adding gravel, fencing, and relocating the operator booth.
While development is still in progress, be sure to check back or subscribe to the Town of Rosetown's website for updates on this project and others.
