Warm summer nights mean bonfires, and we’d like to remind Rosetown residents of our Fire Prevention Bylaw #167-73, specifically the Fire Pit Bylaw regarding use within town limits.
What specs and size fire pit may I have?

- The size of the fire box of any outdoor burning facility shall not exceed .61 cubic meters.
What am I allowed to burn?
- Only cut seasoned wood or charcoal shall be used to fuel outdoor fires.
What is prohibited?
- The burning of rubbish, garden refuse, plastics, manure or animal carcasses, or any material which will generate black smoke or foul odor is not allowed.
What is my responsibility?
- No person shall light an outdoor fire when the weather conditions are conducive to creating a running fire or allow the smoke from the fire to be a nuisance to another person because of smoke drift. If so, the person shall extinguish the fire immediately.
- All outdoor fires shall have responsible supervision at all times.
