On behalf of the Town of Rosetown and our municipal partners in doctor recruitment (the R.M. of St. Andrew's, Town of Elrose, Town of Zealandia, R.M. of Monet, R.M. of Pleasant Valley, R.M. of Marriott, and R.M. of Mountain View), we’re pleased to welcome Dr. Ashwani Narang to the Rosetown and District Primary Care Centre. Dr. Narang and his family have relocated to Rosetown, Saskatchewan from Windsor, Ontario. Dr. Narang joined Dr. Franklin at the Rosetown and District Primary Care Centre on October 1, 2018. He is accepting patients.
In September, Dr. Narang successfully completed the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment (SIPPA), which trains International Medical Graduate Physicians to the unique aspects of practicing medicine in Saskatchewan. He performed his Clinical Field Assessment in Yorkton, Melville, and North Battleford.
Dr. Narang was born and raised in New Delhi, India where he completed much of his education, including medical school, internship, house-physician, and post-graduate training at Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, one of India’s top-ranking medical colleges. Dr. Narang also completed a Masters of Public Health from Wayne State University in Michigan, USA. Before making the transition to rural medicine, Dr. Narang worked in India and Bahrain. He has worked as an ER physician and has special interests in General Medicine and managing complex conditions.
Our new doctor comes to Rosetown with his wife, Dr. Karuna Narang, his son, Lakshya (currently studying at the University of Saskatchewan) and his daughter Namanya (currently in grade 11 in Rosetown). He describes his children as bright and athletic. His wife, Dr. Karuna Narang will be returning to Delhi, India to continue her work as a Family Physician. She has passed her Canadian Medical Licensing Exams and is looking forward to practicing family medicine in Saskatchewan in the future, if selected by SIPPA.
In their personal time, the Narang family enjoy athletic activities including tennis, soccer, and fitness. Dr. Narang also enjoys playing chess, watching movies, camping, gardening, cooking, and a nice glass of wine.
